Shopping Expedition (10)

As if I needed more books to add to my TBR shelf...

Title: I Love You, Beth Cooper
Author: Larry Doyle
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers

Denis Cooverman wanted to say something really important in his high school graduation speech. So, in front of his 512 classmates and their 3,000 relatives, he announced: "I love you, Beth Cooper." It would have been such a sweet, romantic moment. Except that Beth, the head cheerleader, has only the vaguest idea who Denis is. And Denis, the captain of the debate team, is so far out of her league he is barely even the same species. And then there's Kevin, Beth's remarkably large boyfriend, who's in town on furlough from the United States Army. Complications ensue.

This book sounded pretty funny and in a strange way I'm a little curious about the film coming out. It has mixed reviews but so far I think it's pretty funny for nerd humour.

Title: The Magician's Nephew (The Chronicles of Narnia #1)
Author: C. S. Lewis
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers

Narnia ... where the woods are thick and cool, where Talking Beasts are called to life ... a new world where the adventure begins. Digory and Polly meet and become friends one cold, wet summer in London. Their lives burst into adventure when Digory's Uncle Andrew, who thinks he is a magician, sends them hurtling to... somewhere else. They find their way to Narnia, newborn from the Lion's song, and encounter the evil sorceress Jadis before they finally return home.

Bought this one so I could start reading The Chronicles of Narnia series afterwards for my Children's Literature class in my fall semester.

Title: Audrey, Wait!
Author: Robin Benway
Publisher: Penguin Young Reader Group

California high school student Audrey Cuttler dumps self-involved Evan, the lead singer of a little band called The Do-Gooders. Evan writes, "Audrey, Wait!," a break-up song that's so good it rockets up the billboard charts. And Audrey is suddenly famous!

Now rabid fans are invading her school. People is running articles about her arm-warmers. The lead singer of the Lolitas wants her as his muse. (And the Internet is documenting her every move!) Audrey can't hang out with her best friend or get with her new crush without being mobbed by fans and paparazzi.

Take a wild ride with Audrey as she makes headlines, has outrageous amounts of fun, confronts her ex on MTV, and gets the chance to show the world who she really is.

I keep reading reviews of this book on other blogs so of course I had to check it out for myself. Chapters had a mint deal on it - 6 bucks for the hardcover edition. How could I resist?

Title: I Met the Walrus
Author: Jerry Levitan
Publisher: Harper Collins Publishers

On May 26, 1969, fourteen-year-old Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Toronto hotel room one day before their "bed-in" for peace in Montreal. What followed was a life-changing interview with the world's most beloved rock legend.

I keep hearing about this book and I want to learn as much as I can about The Beatles and John Lennon. I figured this would be a good place to start. Plus it was half off for the hardcover edition!

PS: Don't forget, if you want to be added to my blog roll, comment here or twitter me.
