Ever heard of My Friend Jamie? No? Well, you should really check him out (and not just because I went to school with him). He's an incredibly talented musician, and honestly has been a huge inspiration in my life.
A short while ago he posted his first original song on YouTube, and it would mean a lot to me if you checked it out and commented. I know he'd appreciate it too :)
Previously Jamie also posted covers to some pretty epic songs, including "Let It Be," which let me tell you I adore, despite the fact that I loathe most Beatles' covers. The version Jamie recorded was featured in an online article as one of the top 3 best YouTube "Let It Be" covers. Check out it below:
What I love about Jamie is that no matter what, whether he's playing an original song or a cover, he always makes the song his own: he adds his own touch, his own signature to it. For myself, that's the mark of a real musician. They are the ones who acknowledge the music and styles that have been put forth before them, take that knowledge, and try to achieve something different instead of copying it or fitting into a current genre.
No one will ever be the second coming of The Beatles or any other notable band. No one can replicate someone's sound to perfection. Real musicians know this, push the current limits and trends of music, break the mould and try something new that (more often than not) sparks something fantastic, wonderful and original. I truly believe My Friend Jamie is that kind of artist.

Wow. I am incredibly impressed. Tell your friend Jamie I'd buy his music from iTunes any day of the week. =) And tell him good luck!
